February 11th, spring meeting of our local association, our membership due is now only five euros with new benefits such as our own magazine, Jokilaaksojen Kantele

February 10th, our summer direction was confirmed: Young Culture ambassador group 3 Rivers Kanteles/Jokilaaksojen kanteleet will play at the Cultures of the World Festival in Gannat, France

January thru March 2006 Riikka Jaakola is studying traditional kantele in Latvia

December 18th, kantele concert in Haapavesi church

November 11th, four delegates from our association to the fall meeting of the national organisation, Kanteleliitto in Lahti.  Mariia Huikari was elected as a new board member. Jane Ilmola also continues her two year term on the board.

June 20th We were informed the 3 Rivers Kanteles member Päivi Ollikainen of Oulainen has been granted admission to Sibelius Academy.  Congratulations, Päivi!
June 6th -8th Riikka Jaakola's kantele students from Ylivieska, "Röllit" placed third in age group 16-18 while the group Riikka plays in placed first in their respective classes in the national kantele competition in Jyväskylä!   Congratulations!

December 16th  Haapavesi high school's teachers proved their skills with kanteles at the high school Christmas party by playing the Christmas song for kantele from Haapavesi "Kauhea Hässäkkä"
